| The
paintings are emblematic of natural processes and structure. I'm fascinated
by foliage, the growth patterns of plants and dendritic
structures. The forms in the paintings are developed over time through drawing, tracing and re-drawing, a process which subtly mutates the objects. I then use collage, moving the cut-out paper forms around, to arrive at the composition. Thus each painting grows and evolves following a unique pathway. I titled these paintings after the names of towns from Tennessee to Texas. Driving through the mountains in the snow, I realized that the magical landscape embodied the sense I wanted to create back in my studio. |
